Central
Lake is located in Antrim County, in the heart of Northwest Michigan's "Chain Of
Lakes" which is midway between Traverse City and Petoskey! The Chain Of Lakes
ecosystem is divided into the Upper and Lower Chains with six lakes each,
extending north to south in Antrim County. This provides an abundance of water
for all lake enthusiasts. As a year-round vacation location, we welcome skiers,
hunters, snow mobilers, golfers, fishermen, and
those just looking for a secluded and peaceful get-a-way. There is a lovely
modern campground in Thurston Park, in town on Intermediate Lake. The
campground features 47 campsites, a playground, a boat launch and docks. Biking
and hiking opportunities abound in the quiet countryside surrounding the
village. Torch Lake, coined one of the world’s most beautiful lakes, is 3 miles
outside of the village.
The Village of Central Lake is one
mile square and surrounded by Central Lake Township. The community is home to
about 1,000 residents who live on the north end of Intermediate Lake. Besides
access to beaches at Intermediate, Torch, and Lake Michigan, there is a
children’s museum, where visitors may see how the children of the past dressed
and were raised through a display of authentic clothing and toys. The local
Historical Society also has renovated the Knowles House in town and tours are available
daily.
Of course we are sure you will enjoy a drive around Torch Lake,

Summer events in Central Lake
include art festivals, craft fairs, a large car show featuring antique and
collectible cars, and the largest Fourth of July Parade for miles around. In
addition to the Parade on the 4th, the Chamber sponsors a Midway for
the children, music, a flea market, a chicken barbeque in the park and a
strawberry shortcake festival. Fireworks top off these activities at dusk
making for a fun-filled family day.
Torchport and Antrim County
Airports are less than 10 miles from the village and Traverse City Cherry
Capital Airport is 45 miles away.
